Easyrider M & L 2006/7 (Boards Mag Test)
4th Sep 2006 @ 09:35:52 AM
RRD EASY RIDER MEDIUM
Size & Style:The Easy Rider is a beginner
/ improver crossover at 86cm wide. It’s
also quite short at 260cm long, and the
RRD packs in 180L into a very curved
outline shape.
Entry Level Performance: Only averagely
stable for total beginners, but highly
manoeuvrable on a short fin and with a
good turn of speed for improvers. We
found it went upwind well in light winds,
despite the fin and short length. The deck
on this and the other RRD was noticeably softer than on
the other boards, and felt very comfortable underfoot.
Progessor Performance: Easy and smooth to release onto
the plane, making it a good footstrap trainer in stronger
winds, while the tail shape meant it gybes smoothly.
Popularity: Certainly no specific
criticisms, but – perhaps because of
its lack of vices – it seemed to be one
of those boards that people seem to
either love or not really notice. Three
testers put it right up at number one,
while the rest rated it as average.
Others to Consider: There is also an
Easy Rider Large at 100cm wide and
270cm long, which is more suited to
total beginners.
Overall: A pretty good improvers’
board with particularly good planing performance and so suited to those looking to get into the
sport quickly. For lighter to average weight beginners it’s also fine for learning from the very start,
but it feels slightly smaller than its dimensions would suggest.
