The Hard Core Cult in the Pozo Waves

RRD International Team Rider, John Skye has this to say about the RRD 70 Wave Cult Hard Core after giving it competition strength testing:
I literally got the board 2 days before the Pozo contest and pretty much just jumped straight onto it and into a heat. The board felt really nice straight away, fast, good planing and basically just nice and easy to sail.
The board is small though. I would estimate the volume being a little bit under 70 litres and for my weight (80kg) I think the 75 HC would offer a bit more versatility and take slightly bigger sails, up to 5.3. For the smaller guys though the 70 will be perfect. It is really fast and you can hold the speed really nicely when riding. Pozo is obviously pretty onshore, and not really what the board is designed for, but the speed really helps jump high and get around quickly in the waves. Turning is more about power front foot turns than back foot snaps, but when using the rail, it holds the speed really nicely.
Now I cant wait to try the board going in more side shore conditions, for sure it is even better! |
