    Morgan in Zambia

    26th Jun 2008 @ 12:56:11 PM

sSs Team Rider and podium Irish rider, Morgan Mcguire, finished his exams and headed South for Africa to help Habitat for Humanity. Morgan takes up the story:-

''So after getting a few golden days on the water on the west coast after the university exams ended I was off to Zambia with a charity called Habitat for Humanity. A group of 25 of us from the National University of Ireland, Galway went over. Not exactly a windsurfing fueled holiday as Zambia is land locked but sometimes its good to take a wee break from sailing.

We were there for 18 days and in that time we built 3 houses and also gave them a donation of 40,000 Euro for a community centre. It really makes you appreciate how lucky we are to be able to go windsurfing when you see the poverty over there, a place where electricity and running water is a luxury.

At the end of the trip we had a few days to spare so we went south to see Victoria Falls and do some white water rafting on the Zambezei river, twas a mad craic altogether!

It was strange on the river where you were being pulled towards the waves in comparison to the sea where the waves are coming at you!'

Could be an interesting opportunity for some new freestyle tricks...
