Too Big in Ireland
17th Mar 2008 @ 08:45:16 AM
sSs Team Rider, Dan Gardner, has been cruising up and down the west coast of Ireland in search of ideal conditions with his sailing buddy Morgan McGuire, during the recent stormy weather. Instead of a search for wind, it's been a search for a spot where you can actually get out onto the water through the beach break and the wind. Roughly translated this is what Dan had to say:
Ireland has been uber windy and super cold these last weeks. Sad to say that even weighing 85 kg and with a RRD 70l Hardcore Wave and an Ezzy wave SE 3.5 m it was so big last week that I had to sit out the session as I was in fear for my life!
Rusheen Bay was the haven for avoiding crushing waves last month, (not that I was really chickening out) either way the switch stance moves and my shakas are starting to look better.
With the Morganator we went to the Irish Windsurf Varsities event in Bellmullet. Great freestyle before the tide arrived for the competition. Morgan got some sick action armed with his RRD HCW 70 and an Ezzy 3.7m in mast high waves - it's the ginger afro that makes the difference, apparently.
It was a great Craic and beers followed a great wave session on a 4.7 m and my Wave Cult 85.
By the way we are entering the RRD/Ezzy Triple L Challenge, South Coast or not, so expect some great action from Ireland.
