Another typical S Coast beach, this is Felpham |
So anything amazing about Bognor and the surrounding area, not
really - it's another South Coast beach, pebbles and groynes at high
tide, sand & mussel banks at low tide. Good for intermediates
and beginners at low tides, and especially as Bognor boasts to be
the sunniest place in the UK it could be warm as well.
Again sea breezes are the norm in the summer months, then apart
from that you're relying on the forecast, and hoping for Atlantic
depressions bringing South Westerly gales.
Have to be honest on all the charts, the rocks at Bognor are always
present, but I have not heard that these create above average waves
after a good blow or in the winter swells, may be it's a closely
guarded secret!

Again prevailing wind is from the SW - most of the sailing around
Bognor is close to the sailing club, about 3/4 mile west of the
pier. Car parking is good and there is plenty of room for rigging
up kit.
Felpham is a wee bit more awkward, firstly to find and secondly
to park, the sailing club does have a car park but is for members
only.
If you're considering moving down to the coast and cash is not a
problem then there are some major houses in private estates both
to the East of Bognor, in and around Felpham, Middleton and Elmer
and to the West before Pagham at Aldwick.
I have no idea as to whether people kite surf here, so hopefully
any one reading this who knows will be able to put the record straight
by clicking on the link at the top of this report.
Bognor does have "Butlins" but immediately in front of
Butlins, jetskis launch so it's advisable to head across Bognor to
the sailing club. |

These are what you call sea defenses, there are about five of them
off Elmer & Middleton, just up from Climping |
